PROCTOR, Mary "Kaye" Kathleen (nee MacNamara) of MacIntyre Lake – Beloved mother, nanny, great-grandmother, great- great-grandmother, "Nanny P" and aunt passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21st, 2020, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston at the age of 95. Her time had come and she accepted it with the bravery and grace she had lived her whole life – and reaching out for dad’s hand. She’s no longer in pain but our grief for her passing is not ours alone for the whole world is lesser without her in it.
Born on May 5, 1925 in Lower River Inhabitants, to the late Edward R. and Mary Ellen (Murphy) MacNamara. Mom was a stay at home mother for much of her life but also tried her hand at teaching, jewelry making and sales. Her favourite job was being Nanny P to the many families that she worked for as a nanny. She leaves behind sons, Bernie (Sandi), Lower River Inhabitants; Ronnie, Evanston; Steve, MacIntyre Lake; and Allan (Marilyn), Sampsonville; daughters: Patsy Mooring, Port Hawkesbury; Mary MacDonald (Angus), Prince George, BC; Elaine, Lower River Inhabitants; Dianne Hunt (Randy), Mackenzie, BC; Sandra MacInnis (Dennis), Antigonish; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Also left to mourn are best friend, Sheila Scanlan, special friends’ Emmett & Mae O’Connor and a multitude of nieces, nephews and young friends. She was predeceased by the love of her life Lester, an infant daughter, Joanne Marie, son, Edwin James, son-in-law, Sonny Mooring, and daughter-in-law, Margie; brothers, Leonard , Arthur, Edwin and Terry; sisters, Eileen, Alice, Gertrude McCarthy and Jean Jewers; brothers-in-law, Vincent McCarthy and Harold Jewers; sisters-in-law; Melinda, Rita and Joan.
Mom’s writing skills were magical as was her ability to give to others. The foundations of her life were faith and family; she gave selflessly and always had enough for everyone. In her lifetime mom’s friends were many; she always had room for one more at her table and hosted many a great party. Raising children and grandchildren in her subtle style, teaching us love and life; we walk on, touched by her grace and better for having loved her.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Inverness County Home Care and to the doctors and nurses of the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Unit for taking such good care of our special mom.
