CARTER (Scott), Viola J.-98, Middle Melford, Guysborough Co. She was a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Una S. (England) Scott.
Vi was a devoted member of St. James Anglican Church, Middle Melford, a church she dearly loved. She was a member of the Anglican Church Women St. James Ladies Guild, and a member of Faith Chapter No. 54 OES, Mulgrave for 65 years and held the office of Chaplain for many years. Vi loved entertaining her many friends and having tea parties. Having lived and worked in the United States for 40 years, she returned home to her beloved Middle Melford.
Devoted mother of D. Scott (Mabel) Laurie, Robert S. (Ellen) Laurie, both of Sharon, Mass.; sister of Rowena (Scott) Holmes, Stellarton; grandmother of Patricia (Bruce) Young, David, Susan (Dennis) Gillpatrick, Brenda, Suzanne (Thomas) Marino, Robert (Lauren), Maureen; great-grandmother of Matthew and Brian Young, Victoria and Kenneth Gillpatrick, Kayleigh and Jack Marino, Samantha, Steven and Mark Laurie; also, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are stepchildren, Irene (Wilson) Brown, Claire Anne Muise, Betty (Stan) Stadel, Ruth (Wayne) Anderson, Joseph (Anne) Carter, Robert (Donna) Carter, and 17 stepgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, John R. Laurie; second husband, Edward J. Carter; brothers, Leonard, Samuel, Gardner; sisters, Alexa and Stella; stepsons, David, Theodore and Archibald; stepgranddaughter, Elaine.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. An Eastern Star Service will be held 7 p.m. Monday. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. James Anglican Church, Rev. Susan Best officiating. Burial in Milton Cemetery, Milton, Mass., at a later date. Donations in memory of Vi may be made to St. James Anglican Church or Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough.
