CREMO, John Gaulbert - 73, We'koqma'q First Nation, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2007, surrounded by his family in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born July 12, 1933, in Barra Head, Richmond Co., he was a son of the late Simon and Annie (Denny) Cremo. John Gaulbert was a carpenter by trade, a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Waycobah, and a dispatcher with the We'koqma'q Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are sons, John William "Tiny" (Karen), Simon Peter "Chum", William Benjamin "Willie", John Gaulbert Jr. "Johnny", all of We'koqma'q; Leonard (Elizabeth), Pictou Landing; Clifford James "Jake" (Valerie), Membertou; daughters, Nancy Ann, Yvonne Colette (John MacDonald), all of We'koqma'q; sister, Hazel (Tom) (Cremo) Herney, Eskasoni; brother, Cyril Matthew Cremo, Eskasoni; 17 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Theresa (Sylliboy); son, Joseph Dennis "Sosep"; brothers, Simon Peter, Noel Joseph, Lee Joseph, Peter Joseph, Clifford Joseph, Michael Joseph, Clifford Andrew, Lee Harvey; sister, Mary Josephine.
Visitation will be held at the family residence, 107 Reservation Rd., We'koqma'q, beginning after 5 p.m. today. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
