COOK, Michael Patrick Jr. - 25, Oshawa, Ont., formerly of Canso, died on May 15, 2010, at 7:40 p.m. which occurred in the Lakeridge Health Center, Oshawa, Ont. He was born on July 27, 1984 in Canso. He was a son of Betty Ann (Bruce) Munroe, Canso, and Michael Patrick (Rose) Cook, Bridgewater. Michael was a devoted Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He is also survived by his sisters, Christina Cook (Josh Arsenault), Oshawa, Ont. and Mindy-Lee (Ian) George, Enfield; stepsisters, Melissa Munroe (Will Fraser), Antigonish; Tabatha Maddox and Tammy Maddox, both of Bridgewater; grandmother's, Norma Casey and Bertha Baker, both of Canso; great-grandmother, Betty Harnish, New Minas and special friend, Nicole Christopher, Oshawa, Ont. He is also survived by many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, especially Mia and Davidson whom he was very close to, also many cousins and friends. Michael was predeceased by his grandfather's, Joseph D. Casey and Dennis J. Cook and special uncle, Stephan Power. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 21, in Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso, with Father Andrew Gillies officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. A reception to follow in Canso Lions Club. We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Blackstein at Mount Sinai Hospital who did everything he could to help Michael.
