Carter, George H. – 92, Sampsonville. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, George H. Carter who passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Richmond Villa, St Peters. George was born Sept 16, 1918, son of the late Clifford and Elizabeth (Sampson) Carter. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Genevieve (Sampson); infant son Carl; daughter, Sharon; son, George Jr.; grandson, Nelson; great-granddaughter, Tiffany; sisters, Mabel, Marie, Minnie; brothers, Vincent, Fin and Anthony. He is survived by children, Sylvia (Ken) Gray, Saint John, NB; Georda (Richard) Boyd, Cheryl (Donnie) Richards, Fort McMurray; Maureen (Leonard) Whitty, Gail (George) Landry, Clifford (Debbie), Byron (Jamie), Darren(Gloria), all of Sampsonville, Glenda (David) Sampson, River Bourgeois; Clayton (Cathy), Lower Sackville; brothers, Charlie (Lila), Clifford (Shirley), Lin (Dolly); sisters, Beatrice, Bertha, Melinda (Dan) Fougere all of Sampsonville; 26 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. George was a fisherman on the Bras d’Or lakes for 60 years.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 27 from 2-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, St Peters. Funeral mass will be held in St. Peters Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m., with Father Everett MacDow officiating. If you choose, memorial donations may be made to the Nelson Burke Memorial Bursary Fund, the Richmond Villa Activity Dept or Charity of choice.
