CUMMINGS, Gordon Stephen – 86 – formerly of Valley Mills, Inverness Co., passed away Friday November 5, 2010 at Inverary Manor, Inverness. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Malcolm and Bella (Cummings) Cummings.
In his working days, Gordon was employed by Georgia Pacific in Big Brook and Gulf Oil Refinery in Point Tupper. Gordon was a member of Blues Mills Gospel Hall where he enjoyed framing texts and attending conferences as far away as Maine. He went to school in Valley Mills, where he made his home, also where he enjoyed riding his bicycle, walking, fishing, gardening or just being outdoors. Gordon also played guitar and liked to sing.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Doris; children Dorothy (Ernie), Lawrencetown, Stephen (Florence), Valley Mills, Madeline (Laurie), Whycocomagh, Martin (Wilma), Pictou, Daniel (Guylaine), Montreal, Carmeline (Gerald), Sarah (James), both of Orangedale, Delores (Oliver), Tatamagouche; 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons in infancy and sons-in-law Clayton and Bob. Visitation will be 2pm -9pm Saturday in Blues Mills Gospel Hall from where the funeral service will be held 2pm Sunday with Matthew and Gordon Swan officiating. Burial in Upper River Denys Cemetery.
