CODY, Shirley Jean – 78, High Crest Nursing Home, Sherbrooke, formerly of Boylston, Guysborough Co., passed away suddenly, with her loving husband by her side on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, in the High Crest Nursing Home. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Nina (MacPherson) Scranton. Shirley lived her life in Guysborough County. She was a very hard working woman. Shirley was also known for her knitting of mitts, socks and power saw gloves. She was a member of Boylston United Church. Surviving are her loving husband of 45 years, John Cody; daughter, Doris (Julie), Cloverville, Antigonish Co.; grandson, Aaron (Valerie), Antigonish; great-granddaughter, Tanner, Antigonish. She was predeceased by daughter, Marjorie in July 2008; son, John Jr. in August 2008; a son in infancy. Visitation will be from 6-9p.m. Saturday in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral service will be 2p.m. Sunday from Boylston United Church, with Nan Corrigan officiating. Burial will follow in Boylston United Church Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
