Cashin, Cornelius "Neil" Joseph – 84, Canso, Guysborough Co., passed away suddenly Saturday, October 12, 2013in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Port Felix, Guysborough Co., on June 10, 1929, he is a son of the late Amos and Beatrice (Smith) Cashin. Neil will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Jean (Bond) Cashin, Canso; sons, James Cashin, Port Felix; Gary (Suzanne MacIntyre) Cashin, Canso; grandchildren, Robert Cashin and Greg (Kim) Cashin; brothers, Ralph (Gloria) Cashin, Ontario; Ronnie (Alice) Cashin, Canso; Patsy (Francis) Mannette, Halifax. Neil was predeceased by daughter, Angela; sisters, Eleanor and Patricia; brothers, Ernest and Leonard.
Neil retired from National Seafood’s in Canso after many years. He has also worked as a commercial fisherman for many years and also was a lighthouse keeper at the Port Felix Light. He also worked for the Department Of Transport on many Fisheries & Oceans vessels.
Neil loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time at his camp on the Sand Lake. He loved cutting wood and travelling on his 4-wheelers.
We would like to give a very special thank you to our neighbours Ray & Judy White for all their help and support. We would also like to thank everyone for the calls, messages and comments of condolence and support.
We would also like to thank Dr. John Sullivan and the nurses at Eastern Memorial Hospital in Canso for their exceptional compassion and care.
