RUBY CATHERINE (O'LEARY) CARTER It is with great sadness we announce the death of our mother and grandmother who passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 in Guysborough Memorial Hospital, Guysborough and who is now reunited with her beloved husband and son. Born in Queensport, NS on June 16, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Alphonso and Gertrude (Richard) O'Leary. She was a wonderful and strong woman whose laughter filled the room when she walked in. She had many talents and was no stranger to the making of many quilts which she took great pride in. She was also a skilled knitter who we believe made the first "trigger finger" mitts and we can't forget the countless hours spent in her garden and the many quarts of berries she picked. She is survived by and leaves to mourn her sons, Fred (Mary), Halifax; Donald (Sheila), Canso; daughter, Kaye Jamieson, Queensport and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Carter (Sydney). She was grandmother to Paul, Sheila, Craig, Charlene, Stephen, Danny, Cheryl, Donnie and Wayne Joe; great-grandmother to Shelby, Julia, Carter, Mathieau, Rhaine, Nadine, Matthew, Conner, Zoe, Irene, Hunter, Maggie and MacKenzie and great-great grandmother to Wednesday. She is also survived by sisters, Agathia Feltmate, Tena Fancey, Helen (William) Turnbull, Minnie (Joseph) Doiron and brother, Osbourne (Winnie). She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence "Nick" Carter, son, Wayne, brothers, Tom and Leo, sisters, Mary, Florence and Alice and son-in-law Doug Jamieson. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will take place at a later date with the burial to be in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Queensport. Donations can be made in her name to St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery Fund, Queensport, Guysborough Memorial Hospital Expansion Fund or a charity of your choice.
