CONRAD, Basil Harvey – Age 65, of Port Hawkesbury. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend. Basil passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Douglas and Frances "Fanny" (George) Conrad. He worked as a Scaler at Stora Enso for 36 years. Basil loved hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He spent many hours tinkering around in his workshop and could fix almost anything. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Conrad; his children, Tracy Conrad, Port Hawkesbury; Tiffany Sellers (Owen), Edmonton; Nikki Conrad, Port Hawkesbury; sisters, Betty Malcolm, New Brunswick; Frances Campbell (Donnie), North Sydney; his grandchildren, Anthony Conrad, Tanner Sellers, Kinley Sellers. He was predeceased by his parents, Douglas and Frances "Fanny" (George) Conrad; and brother, David Conrad. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury and from where funeral service will be held at 11am Thursday with Nan Corrigan, DM officiating. Reception to follow the service at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury. Burial will take place in Southbrook Cemetery. A memorial donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
