CARTER, Anthony Francis – 49, St. Peter’s. We the family regret to announce the passing of our son, husband, father, brother, and friend, Anthony Francis Carter. Anthony passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2015, surrounded by his family in the An Cala unit in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Sydney, on July 17, 1966, Anthony was a son of Norman and Irene Carter; husband to Heather and father to Sonya, Lonnie, and Nelson. Anthony was a welder by trade working at many places in the Halifax area and most recently for Inukshuk Construction, Rankin Inlet, NU. Besides his parents, wife, and children, Anthony was also survived by sisters, Edwina (Michael) MacNeil, Oban; Mavis (Keith) Wadden, Port Morien; and Olivia (David) Johnston, Red Islands; brothers-in-law, Rodney (Myrna Noddin) Bona, Elmsdale; Paul (Bathsheba) Kolit, Arviat NU; Robin (Tamara) Kolit and Archie (Shona) Kolit, both of Coral NU; sisters-in-law, Trudy Kolit (David), Kim Kolit, Jenny Kolit, and Wendy (Ray) Netser, all of Coral NU; as well as many nieces and nephews. Anthony was predeceased by his sister, Clarissa Bona; grandparents, Enos and Roseanne Sampson; Daniel and Sophie Carter and in-laws, Armand and Pooka Kolit. Special thanks to the many Doctors and Nurses in both Strait Richmond and Sydney that showed Anthony such care and compassion throughout his illness. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Homes Ltd. Visitation to take place Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 26 Centennial St. St. Peter's. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday from St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Antolin Asor officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the An Cala unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or the Cape Breton Cancer Centre.
