CHISHOLM, Mary Agnes- 78, Melford, Inverness Co., passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Melford in 1937, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Ena (MacIsaac) Chisholm. Mary graduated from Mabou Consolidated School in 1954 and then went on to graduate from St. Rita’s School of Nursing in 1966. In 1977 she graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Nursing Degree. Mary lived all her working life in Montreal and moved back to her beloved Cape Breton for retirement in 1994 with her beloved cocker spaniels, Brandie, Buffie and Bessie. Mary’s compassion and love of nursing, animals, friends and the wild birds of Melford will never be surpassed. Mary was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Parish, Glendale. Special thanks to the staff at Home Care Support, in particular Donna and Olivia and also to Strait Richmond Nursing Staff and to Dr Pluta and Dr Collins. Surviving are her sisters, Marie (Brian) Watkinson, Ottawa; Sadie Kennedy, St. Andrew’s, Antigonish Co.,; Margaret (Lyle) Wilson, Laval, Quebec; Anne Fougere, Melford; brothers, Martin (Irene), Valley Mills; Michael (Roberta), Moncton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Irene Chisholm, Cecelia Hall, Isabel Chisholm; brother, Archie. There will be no visitation by her request. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday from St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, Glendale with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. No flowers please. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Cemetery Fund, St. Mary of the Angels C.W.L. or a charity of one’s choice.
