CONDO, Cecil Patrick – Age 73, We’koqma’q First Nation, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017, in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in Listiguj, Quebec, he was a son of the late Noel and Mary (Wilmot) Condo. Cecil worked as a chef for many years, operating Rod’s Pizza Shop in We’koqma’q. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 123, Whycocomagh. Cecil was a survivor of the Shubie Residential School. He served on the elder committee for We’koqma’q and had served in the Royal Canadian Army as a paratrooper. Surviving are his loving companion of 28 years, Sarah Sylliboy, We’koqma’q; daughters, Michelle Preddie, Cambridge; Shari, Ont; sons, Michael Preddie, We’koqma’q; Joe, Ont; Dwayne (Suzanne Prosper), We’koqma’q; brothers, John and Hunts, both of Listiguj; adopted brother, Michael Googoo, Truro; grandchildren, Randi, Alysha, Deijahna, Natasha, Nathaniel, Taylor, Chelsey, Sky, Mark, Brandi, Brooke, Skylar, Chase, Elie, Charles, Bridgette, Deanna; great-grandchildren, Tianna, Elias, Marissa; many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and nephews; and his loving pet, Pretty. He was predeceased by his adopted parents, Bill and Alice Googoo; brothers, Edward, Raymond, Isaac, Percy, Ralph, Marshall; sisters, Elizabeth, Lisa, Delphine, Duckinlarock. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Monday in the Multi Purpose Building, 160 Reservation Road, We’koqma’q First Nation. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday from Blessed Kateri Parish Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, We’koqma’q with Father Vincent Travers officiating. Cremation to follow.
