COGSWELL, Charles Edward "Eddie" Alexander – Age 75, Evanston, Richmond Co. Born on January 22, 1942 in Evanston, he passed away in the Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s on Thursday, January 11, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Charlie "Eddie" was a son of the late Frank and Sadie (McNamara) Cogswell.
He worked at the Pulp Mill, Heavy Water Plant and he retired from the Port Hawkesbury Shopping Centre as a maintenance worker. Eddie was a much admired son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He enjoyed a good dance, card games, hockey, wrestling and baseball. He loved to watch his family play baseball, hockey and also enjoyed watching the Strait Pirates. Eddie was a huge HABS fan. He loved listening to fiddle tunes and teasing others brought him great joy.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Edna (Matthews); son, Sander (Verla) Cogswell; daughter, Sadie (Craig) Digout; grandchildren, Blake and Kalene Cogswell and Jessica and Ryan Digout; brothers, Jim (Frieda), Howard (Anita) and Cecil (Diane). He was predeceased by his sister, Mary (Donnie) Howlett; brother, Francis (Belle) Cogswell.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held in the Chapel of the Richmond Villa in St. Peter’s on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. A graveside burial will be held at a later date in St. Patrick’s Parish Cemetery, Whiteside. Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Cemetery Fund. Arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
