COGSWELL, Carl Edward – Port Hastings, Inverness Co. The family regrets to inform of his passing on Monday, March 26th, 2018, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston after a short illness. Born in Grantville, Richmond Co., on April 5th, 1949, Carl was a son of the late Douglas and Mary (MacPhee) Cogswell. Carl is survived by his wife, Averill (MacNeil), his daughters, Alison, Wendy (Greg) Clements and Rebecca (Ryan) McDonald, his grandchildren, Calem Cogswell and Savannah Clements, all of Halifax. Carl is also survived by his brothers, Joe (Helen), Bernie (Fran), Dougie (Paulette), Kenny Chisholm and his sisters, Irene (Rod) McNeil, Anne Cogswell and sister-in-law, Mary Cogswell, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Carl was pre-deceased by his brothers, Angus, Francis, Charles as well as sisters-in-law, Shirley and Sandra. At Carl’s request there will be no wake or funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Evergreen Club in Port Hawkesbury on Saturday, March 31st, 2018 from 4-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Strait Richmond Hospital or the NS Mental Health Association. Private burial to occur at a later date.
