CREMO (Sylliboy), Mary 'Theresa' - 67, We'Koma'q First Nation. It is with great sadness we announce the death of Mary Theresa Cremo, who passed away Saturday, May 20, 2006, after losing her battle with diabetes in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, surrounded by her family and friends. Born in We'Koma'q, she was a daughter of the late William B. and Nancy (Denny) Sylliboy (We'Koma'q). Theresa was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, We'Koma'q, and was a former student of the Residential School in Shubie. She was a graduate from Laeutchen University in Sudbury, Ont. Theresa was employed as a C.H.R. in We'Koma'q for 17 years until her retirement. She took great pride in her involvement in various organizations (Winter Carnival and the Santa Claus Committee). Theresa will be greatly remembered for her extensive knowledge of her culture, language and history. Those who knew Theresa will never forget her sense of humour. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, John G. (son of the late Simon and Annie (Denny) Cremo); children, John William 'Tiny' (Karen), We'Koma'q; Leonard (Elizabeth), Pictou Landing; Simon 'Chum', at home; Nancy, Yvonne (John), both of We'Koma'q; Clifford 'Jake' (Valerie), Membertou; Willie Bee and Johnny, both at home; sisters, Mary Ellen Phillip (late Joel Noel), Margaret Poulette (late Charles), both of We'Koma'q; brother, Grand Chief Benjamin (Marie) Sylliboy, We'Koma'q. Theresa had a great love for her grandchildren, Elaine, R.J., Alex, Kristene, K.C., Jasmine, Tara, Aurora, Gavin, Tamara, Muin, Brylen and Noah; along with special family members, Faith Dodd, Newfoundland; Miranda Dodd, Africa and John Leroy, We'Koma'q; also several nieces and nephews; godchildren, Christene (Roderick), Eskasoni; Renita (Martin), Angela (Kenneth), Jennifer (Adrian), David, all of We'Koma'q; David Young, Fredericton, N.B. She was predeceased by sister, Mary Jane Nevin. Visitation will be after 7 p.m. today at the family residence, 107 Reservation Rd., We'Koma'q. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
