GOSBEE, W. R. Maxwell "Max" – Guysborough. Embraced in love Max died Monday, September 1st, 2014, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital at the age of 76. Born on July 13th, 1938, in Guysborough to the late Murray and Elizabeth (Peart) Gosbee, Max grew up in Guysborough and loved to share stories of his growing up. So many times when we complained, he would tell us how he had to walk two miles to school in knee deep snow. He was a great storyteller, which often involved lots of wit, humor and impersonating, which we laughed and tried to tell in our own homes. Max worked as a Laborer for many years and retired from the Guysborough Correctional Centre where he was Superintendent for 18 years. Max’s favorite past time was his Christmas Trees, he knew every inch of his tree lot and tending to his trees provided many hours of peaceful enjoyment. His Catholic faith was of great importance to him, of which he practiced every day, with his giving nature. He was a beloved husband to Shirley (Richard) for 52 years and father to Kimberly (Bruce) Avery, Guysborough; Maxwell Jr. (Karen) Guysborough; Katherine Gosbee, Truro; Edith Gosbee, Guysborough and Stephanie (Michael) Howell, Lower Sackville. Known as Pampie, a name he owned with pride, to Matthew (Brandi), Crystal, Geoffrey, Brittany, Justine, Alex, Madison and Kaylie. He so loved his grandchildren and enjoyed every moment with them. He is also survived by his brothers, Garfield and Frank, and sister, Edith McIntyre. Our family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Barbara Bell and Dr. Anita Foley for their care during his courageous battle with Cancer. We are so grateful for the nurses at Guysborough Memorial Hospital, and the continuing care and palliative care staff: Maureen Long, Carmel Avery, Stephanie Hart, Vonda Card and Karen Hoben, for the compassionate care you provided. Visitation will take place on Friday, September 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough.
