OSBORNE, Paul Martin, P. Eng – We are very saddened to announce the passing of Paul Martin Osborne of Dartmouth and formerly of Port Hawkesbury, on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Halifax, on August 18, 1958, he was a son of Iris (Martin) Osborne, Orleans, Ont; and the late Murray Osborne. Paul graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and from the Technical University of Nova Scotia with his Mechanical Engineering Degree. The highlight of his career was with his father’s shipyard, Breton Industrial and Marine in Point Tupper and also Saint John Shipbuilding as one of the lead Engineers for the Frigate program. Through Valerie’s passion of horses and their horse Checkers, he also became a horse lover. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 29 years, Valerie (Palmer), Dartmouth; mother and father-in-law, Jane and Andy Palmer, Port Hawkesbury; sisters-in-law, Donna (Palmer) Ernie Meagher and nephew, Jamie, Mulgrave; Lori (Palmer) Scott MacKenzie and nephews, Connor and Evan, St. Andrews NB; brother, John (Donna); niece, Erin (Michael) Brookes; grand nephew, Samuel; nephew, Andrew, all of Orleans, Ont. A very special thank you to Dr’s Collins and Pluta, Nursing staff and all other staff members of Strait Richmond Hospital for their loving care and compassion for both Paul and Valerie during their difficult time. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury with Nan Corrigan D.M. officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial at a later date. Memorial donations in Paul’s memory may be made to Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society or to St. Mark’s United Church.
