CAMPBELL, Robert Archibald – Age 86, Malagawatch, Inverness Co., passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2014, in the Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s. Born February 19, 1928, he was the son of the late Charles and Jessie (Kennedy) Campbell. He was an adherent of Malagawatch Fulton Presbyterian Church.
Robert was a long-time Mechanical Maintenance employee of Georgia Pacific where he enjoyed not only his work but the lifelong friendship and support of his co-workers. He was a tremendous provider for his wife and family. After retirement he enjoyed harvesting oysters, gardening, his rose bushes, plowing driveways and helping others in many ways and his early morning drive to feed the eagles with his dog, Max on his beloved Bras d’Or Lake.
He is survived by his sons, Bobby (Marion), Blue Mills; Lawrence (Linda), Orangedale; foster sons, Kenny Moore, Sydney; Bernie Moore, Truro; brother, Laurie (Madeline), Whycocomagh; grandchildren, Ian (Wanda) MacLean, Angie (Raymond) MacKenzie, Matthew (Siobhan) Campbell, Bradley (Kassie) Campbell, Michael (Chantalle) Campbell, Brent (Chelsea Haliburton) Campbell, Adam Campbell, Beth MacLeod (her father Ernie MacLeod); great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Mya and Mason MacLean, Chloe and Samantha MacKenzie and Isaac Robert Campbell; nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Christine; daughter, Marilyn Ann MacLean; son-in-law, Hugh MacLean; infant great-granddaughter, Abbey MacLean; sister, Dolly Falconer and her husband Max.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers of the Richmond Villa for the wonderful and compassionate care our father received.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, from River Denys Presbyterian Church with Rev. Andrew MacDonald and Rev. Wayne MacLeod officiating. Burial will be in Malagawatch Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to the Malagawatch Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
