Beaton, Mary Jessie – age 95 of Port Hastings, formerly of Point Tupper. It is with great sadness and wonderful memories that we mourn the loss of Jessie Beaton, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who passed away Sunday July 31, 2016 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Brookvillage, June 1, 1921, Jessie was a daughter of the late Ronald Joseph and Mary Anne (Campbell) MacNeil. Jessie was a woman of great faith and tremendous strength. She had that special smile, wonderful sense of humor and a very huge and caring heart. Jessie and her husband Collie, of 57 years were married July 8, 1946 in Brookvillage. They loved Scottish music and especially enjoyed attending the many outdoor concerts where Jessie always brought a large cooler filled with ham, potato salad, coleslaw and sandwiches for all to enjoy. Jessie was always one to show great kindness and friendship to everyone. A warm welcome was extended to all who came to our home, where no one left without having that cup of tea and her generous hospitality. Our mom blessed each of us with her wonderful gifts of love, faith and devotion to our family. Jessie is survived by her daughter, Marlene (Gus) Boyd; sons, Ronnie (Alice); Collie; Doug (Wendy), all of Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, Ronald, Kevin, Chance, Woody, Jennifer and Katie; 8 great-grandchildren and nephew, Rodney Doiron, Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, Collie; sons, Freeman and John; sisters, Katie Belle, Sadie, Catherine "Belle" Doiron and Isabel MacNeil. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with vigil service at 6 p.m., all in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St. Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday August 4, at 1 p.m. from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
