She was much loved by grandchildren, James, Erin (Donnie Luangamath) and Meghan O'Neil; Christopher Campbell; Joel, Ben (Whitney Roos) and Erica Reynolds; Liam and Alicia Campbell; Jessica, Catherine and Karen Campbell; Ryan, Matthew and Stewart Fortune; Daniel and Leah Campbell.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Owen and Isabel McKenna, Dartmouth; sister-in-law Janet McKenna, Antigonish; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years Donald; daughter, Mary; son-in-law, Elwood Reynolds; brothers Leo, Neil, John (Gish), and Harold; sisters Mona Olsen, Nora Nunn, Eileen Andrews, Chrissie McKenna, and Eleanor Toner.
Alice was born in Antigonish to John Patrick and Sarah Eleanor (MacDonald) McKenna.
She was affectionately known as "Kitten" to her family and friends in Antigonish. She worked from a young age in her father’s (McKenna’s) drug store in Antigonish. Her love of skating started in Antigonish on the Salt Ponds and she skated into her 80’s as a member of the P.H. Skating Club.
Alice graduated as a Pharmacy Certified Clerk from Dalhousie. She married Donnie in 1951, and in 1959 they moved to Port Hawkesbury to open Campbell’s Pharmacy and raise their family. Alice served her community with care and compassion over the years. She loved visiting her family and friends and she spent many summers at their cottage in Irish Vale. Her good spirit, numerous phrases and sense of humor were with her until her passing.
The family is grateful to the staff of the Admiral Long Term Center for the loving care they provided over the past three years.
