CROSBY (MacEachen), Valerie Marie- Age 53, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, in her home in Winslow, Maine. She was born November 26, 1963 in Antigonish, NS to Hugh and Connie MacEachen. She grew up in Port Hawkesbury, NS where she attended high school at Strait Area Education Recreation Centre and graduated in 1982. Valerie worked at her father’s Beauty Salons in Port Hawkesbury and Port Hood for several years where she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She married Dean Nelson Crosby on July 2, 1994, in Concord, N.H. U.S.A. They had three children, Broderick Donald, Chloe Marie and Bria Jean Crosby and moved to Winslow, ME in 2000. Valerie worked as a real estate agent at Century 21 Nason Realty for seven years and contributed to Winslow High School in a number of ways. She had many hobbies but her true passions were loving her family and raising her children. Valerie possessed an outgoing personality with an infectious smile which was evident by her many friends. She especially loved her summer holidays in Cape Breton and gatherings with friends and family. She is survived by her parents, Hugh and Connie MacEachen of Port Hawkesbury; her husband, Dean Crosby, who resides in Winslow, ME; her son, Broderick Crosby, her daughters, Chloe Crosby and Bria Crosby; her brother, Darryl MacEachen, wife Claire and their four children of Hollis, NH; her brother, Terence MacEachen, wife Lesley of Norfolk, Mass, and their seven children; her sister, Alison MacEachen of Port Hawkesbury and her two children. She was predeceased by first husband, Mark Rankin, of Mabou Coal Mines. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
