ROBERTS, Julia Beatrice- Age 90, Kempt Road, Richmond Co., and formally of Canso, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2017, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, with family by her side. Julia was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother and sister. Julia lived most of her life in Canso, where she raised her family of 9 children. She enjoyed knitting and we will all cherish the items we have to remember her by and to have them to pass to the next generation along with the memories of the kind and understanding person she was to all. Spending time with family was time treasured by Julia. Taking our new born babies to visit Nanny so she could cuddle and rock them was a tradition we were all happy to partake in. Julia will be sadly missed by her children, Linda (Bob) White, Ottawa; Shirley (Elliot) Ehler, Whitehead; Winnie (John) Bent, Canso; Paula (Wallace) Richards, Fox Island; Margie (Neil) Feltmate, Kempt Road; Susan (Gill) Hendsbee, Dartmouth; Julie (James) Bain, Eastern Passage. Julia will also be greatly missed by her 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and her 1 great great-grandchild. Surviving siblings are Elizabeth (Eric) Foster; John (Doris); Florence (Ed) Bond; Norma (Leonard) Dobson. Although we will miss her dearly here on earth, we take great comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her husband of 72 years, Jim; her daughter, Hilda and son-in-law, Bob Bland; her son, Percy; grandson, Kirk (Bent); her parents, Walter and Mary (Spears) Swaine. Julia was also predeceased by her brother, Ross (Mary) Swaine; Clarence, Douglas (Marion) and infant brother, James; sisters, Margaret (Oakley) Feltmate; Frances "Tod" (Lawson) Casey; Evelyn (Bob) Smith and Mabel (Art) Newell. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and nurses at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital and Strait Richmond Hospital. To Dr. Jim Collins for his support to the family over the last number of years. Her daughters extend gratitude to their sister Margie and her husband Neil Feltmate for taking exceptional care of her for the past 7 years. Margie and Neil send a special thank you to the Home Care providers for their help and support over the last year and a half. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso, followed by a graveside service in Fourth Hill Cemetery, Canso at 2 p.m. with Rev.
