HENDSBEE, Mabel Irene (Hunt) – Phillips Harbour, Guysborough Co., age 88 years. We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our much-loved mother, nanny and great nanny, Mabel Hendsbee of Phillips Harbour "the purple mansion". She passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2020 in Canso Seaside Manor.
Mabel was the daughter of the late Harvey and Beulah (Greencorn) Creamer. She is survived by her children, Susan (Dave) Bouchie, Larry (Carol) Hunt, Darrell (Gloria) Hunt, Kevin (Jean) Hunt and Tanya Hendsbee; grandchildren, Ashely (Yvette) Bouchie, Holly Bouchie (David Mason), Justin, Sarah and Kiera Hunt; great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Simon Bouchie and Carly Mason; brother, Clarence (Bernadette) Creamer; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Cynthia Creamer; several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. She was predeceased by brothers, Gordon, Ed and Hal; sister, Linda in infancy; also, her first husband, John Hunt and second husband, Kenneth Hendsbee.
She was a stay at home Mom and loved and worried about her children and grandchildren until the end. She was secretary/treasurer for Christ Anglican Church, Queensport until ill health would no longer allow her to do it. She loved family get togethers, going to bingos, flea markets and shopping.
In keeping with Covid-19 restrictions there will be no viewing or funeral at this time; a funeral and life celebration will be held at a later date when friends and family are able to gather. A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 24 at Christ Anglican Church Cemetery, Queensport with Reverend Susan Slater officiating.
The family would like to thank the doctors at Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso for their care over the past several months and Dr. Ranjini and Dr. Bell of Guysborough Memorial Hospital for their care through the years. A special thank you to the staff of Canso Seaside Manor who looked after her like family for the past nine months, she could have not received better care anywhere.
