Bray, Geneva May - 88, Halifax passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in Northwood Terrace, Halifax surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 15, 1922 in Canso she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Estella May (Dort) Lumsden. Geneva led a full life and enjoyed the simple things in life- a drive in the country, a visit from family, watching boats in the harbour, listening to her music, playing her piano and was a member of the "Joey Bray Orchestra" (Swing and Sway with Joey Bray) in Canso. But the greatest joy in life was her family.
Geneva is survived by her children, sons, Paul (Dorothy), Halifax; Joseph "Joey" (Linda), Canso; daughter, Sharon (Jean) St-Pierre, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Nancy Bray (Adam), Halifax; Diane Bray (Barry) , Halifax; John Paul Bray (Jenn) , Stephenville, NL; Tanya St-Pierre (Ryan) , Dartmouth; great –grandson, Josiah Craig Bray, Stephenville, NL; nieces, Roberta, Carol, Bedford; Margaret May, Canso; and nephew, Gerald, Canso. She was predeceased by her husband, Josiah, brothers, Gerald, Colin, Albert, Alden and nephew, Kenny. A special thank you to the staff of Northwood Centre, 6N for their special, loving care they provided to Geneva during her stay and for the support given to the family at this time of sorrow.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, in St. Paul’s United Church, Canso, with Rev. Heather Manuel officiating. Burial in Fourth Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made in Geneva’s memory to St. Paul’s United Church, Canso or Lung Association of Nova Scotia. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
