BOUCHIE, Elliott Herman – 75, Canso, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, December 23, 2011, surrounded by his loving family in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Canso, he was a son of the late Herman Joseph and Hazel Jennie (Newell) Bouchie of Little Dover. Over the years he was employed at National Sea/Seafreez fish plant in Canso and Elliott’s Taxi but later went back to his passion of being a truck driver first self-employed as Elliott’s Transport and then with Brian George Trucking until his retirement in 2010. Elliott spent his spare time listening to music and learning to play guitar with his friends, Cal, Blair and Eldon. He had a passion for music and it played a big part in his life. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters who was so proud of. He is survived by his soul mate, Shirley Anne (Richard) to whom he was married 49 years; son, Timothy (Fran); daughters Pattie (Dean) and Janice (Scott). He had five beautiful granddaughters who were his pride and joy and all of them were "Poppy’s Girls", Wendy, Lezlie, Erica, Brittany and Kayla; sisters, Thelma, Beverley, Barb, Debbie and brother, Melvin. He was predeceased by his sister, Irma; brothers, Wally, Robert and Basil. He had many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, December 27th in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 121 School Street, Canso. Funeral mass will take place at Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28th., with Father Andrew Gillies officiating. Family flowers only please. Donations to be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Eastern Memorial Hospital.
