BAKER, Virginia Margaret "Tootsie" – 76, of Durrell’s Island, Guysborough Co. passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Canso, she was a daughter of the late George Wilfred and Bertha Elizabeth (Webb) O’Hearn. Tootsie enjoyed quilting and was a passionate card player, who always liked to win! Family was always her #1 priority. She was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 46, Canso. She was a devote Catholic and member of Star of the Sea Parish, Canso. Tootsie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Calvin, her beloved children, John (Val Nickerson), Marie Parker, Martha (Fred) Rhynold, Theresa (Darren Albert) Cole, Margaret (Johnnie) Parker, Joan Reid, all of Canso; Dorothy (Darren) Bennett, Hazel Hill; Ginny (Jerome) Boudreau, Peasbrook; Anthony (Melissa Feltmate), Canso; Doug Baker and Helen, both of Antigonish; sisters, Nina Roberts, Canso; Bertha Spriggs, Dartmouth; brothers, Dave Harding, Sacramento California USA; George, Mississauga Ont; daughter-in-law, Bertha Baker; 33 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. Tootsie will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Jean and Martha, brothers, Gordon and John, son-in-law, Terry Parker and grandson, Paul Parker. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 7-9pm and 2-9pm Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral Mass will be held 11am Saturday, from Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso, with Father Andrew Gillies officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please.
