Obituary
Please share a memory of Kirk to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kirk Michael Boudreau. Kirk was born on March 19, 1983 and passed away peacefully, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston on Friday, June 29, 2012 surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Occasionally, we were blessed to have someone exceptional among us whose joy for life gave meaning to the expression "a shining soul" and brought us face to face with our humanity. Kirk was that individual.
Kirk loved life and he participated in everything he could to the fullest; when Kirk watched sports he dressed for the occasion. He travelled as a part of his brother’s hockey team, and had a special spot to watch the games. Kirk skied with his father, he learned to sail and even with his disability, he made a solo sail to Handleys Island and back. Kirk bowled on a team and with his friends; he enjoyed camping, boating, parties and family gatherings especially when you brought him on the dance floor.
To no one’s surprise, Kirk graduated from Richmond Academy in 2001, a recipient of the Sir Frederick Fraser award to recognize his academic effort and participation in extracurricular activities.
One of the most memorable highlights of Kirk’s life was passing the Olympic torch to Sidney Crosby in 2010. Kirk was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of Strait Richmond Minor Hockey Association.
Kirk is survived by his parents, Michael and Annabel Boudreau; his sister, Vicki Martell (David); his brother, Barry (Tara); niece, Emma; nephew, Noah, his grandmother, Mathilda Boudreau and "Grampie" Simon Carter (Germaine) and a large extended family. Kirk was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Jake and "Nanny" Grace Carter; his paternal grandfather, Andrew Boudreau and his uncle Ronnie.
Kirk’s family would like to extend many thanks to all the dedicated people in the medical field who helped Kirk with his challenges. Thanks to all the family and community members who enriched Kirk’s life.
Visitation for Kirk will be in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 26 Centennial St., St. Peters, Sunday and Monday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, from St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, St. Peters with Father Dennis Lamey and Father Hughie D. MacDonald concelebrating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society or a charity of one’s choice.
Kirk’s gift to us all was his ability to bring out the finest in everyone he met and to show us how to face each and every day with a courageous smile.
