BENNETT, Dorothy Cecilia "Dot" – 76, Canso, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax Infirmary Site. Born in Canso, she was the eldest child of the late John and Annie (Snow) Richard. She worked as a switchboard operator for Maritime Tel & Tel, National Sea Products and Seafreez Foods Inc., before retiring in 1992. She was a very vibrant lady with a zest for life. She loved music and camping at Lake Ainslie.
She is survived by sisters, Shirley Bouchie, Canso; Sharon (Cathy) Richard, Truro; brothers, Enos (Anita), Jim (Kathy) and Bill (Brenda), all of Canso; many extended family members including Jennifer (Jason) Rennie, Beaverbank; and Kelly Murphy, Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband Shirl. Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be 2-9p.m. Friday, November 30, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be held 10a.m. Saturday, December 1, in Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in Dot’s memory may be made to Star of the Sea Building Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of choice. "We have been so lucky to have her in our lives and will miss her dearly".
