BYARD, Norman Edward "Big Joe" – 71, of Sunnyville, Guys. Co, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 9,2013, at home surrounded by family. Born in Sunnyville, he was a son of the late Clayton and Mary (Byard) Jordan. "Big Joe" enjoyed playing guitar, singing and spending time with family and friends. He often shared his musical talents with the seniors at the local nursing home. He is survived by his loving companion, Barbara Reddick; sons, Norman Jr. ( Sue Ellen), Eugene; daughter, Rachael; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Walter (Eunice); James (Ruby); Neil (Sharon); Paul (Ann); sisters, Betty (Roy); Marion (Mike); Sarah; Sharon; Diane (Claude); Muriel (Wally). He was predeceased by a sister, Ann, brothers, Bernie, Ronnie. "Big Joe" will be missed by his furry buddies, Barney, Tyson, Precious and Angel. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Sunnyville United Baptist Church with Rev. David Wheeler officiating assisted by Rev. Emmanuel Mutale. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
