Brophy, Ella Mae – 89, Mulgrave. Passed away at home on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Today we lost our most precious angel our "momma", nanny and Great-Nanny and our best friend in the world. "Momma" was born in Mulgrave on June 30, 1924 to the late John A. and Florence (DeCoste) MacDonald. She was sixth in the line of eleven children. Momma first and for most loved her family more than anything. She loved her photos; she was very musical, playing the piano, guitar from a young age. She and her brother played for many dances at the "Minitoga" Lodge to Guysborough Intervale. She still played her piano almost daily. Momma loved her plants and gardening. Momma is survived by her daughters, Gloria (Dan) Grady, grandsons, Matthew and Ryan; Pamela (Randy) Hadley and our "chosen" sister, Carol Anne; also survived by daughter-in-law, Mary and granddaughters, Tracy (Jody) DeCoste and Heather (Joe) Brennan; great-grandchildren, Kristen, Danielle, Conner, Kaily, Emma and Vera-Lynn. Great-Nanny loved each and every one of her grandchildren so much. Also surviving is sister, Clarissa; brothers, Clarence, Phonse and George "Hank" MacDonald. Momma held a special place in her heart for nieces, Heather, Paula and Terry Duff. Momma was predeceased by her husband, Seaward in 1990; and her precious son, Larry in 2004, Also by her siblings, Rose, Gertie, Hilda, Jean, John and Joe. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, in the family residence, 138 Loggie Street, Mulgrave. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, from St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.
