BERNARD, Jeffrey Neil "Jeff" - We'koqma'q First Nation, age 49 years. Passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, February 2, 2017. He was born in Inverness on April 13, 1967 a son of the late Pte. Andrew and Mary Noella (Googoo) Bernard. Jeffrey was a Carpenter, Fisherman and a Labourer. He is survived by his partner, Rachael Phillips, We’koqma’q. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his children, daughters, Shawnee Bernard, Shaylee Bernard, Shaylynn Bernard and Hillary Nicholas all of Pictou Landing First Nation; son, Shawn Bernard, Pictou Landing First Nation; his wife and mother of his children, Colleen Denny, Pictou Landing First Nation; Rachael’s daughter, Jessie Phillips, Smith Falls, Ontario; sisters, Elizebeth Toney, We'koqma'q; Sarah "Sally" Cope, Truro; Annabelle (Bellin) Nicholas, Harriet Nicholas, Mary Josephine Googoo, and Lucille Bernard all of We'koqma'q; brothers, Harvey (Brenda) Bernard, We'koqma'q; Noel Mike, Wagmatcook; Alexander, We'koqma'q; godchildren, Wallace, Hillary, Jocelyn, Jonas, Paris and Sophie. He was predeceased by his brother, Matthew; sisters, Mary Helen, Alice and Bernice. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday, February 9, at 13 Kitpu Dr., We’koqma’q First Nation and from where Father Paul Abbass will have a blessing at 10 a.m. Saturday. Visitation will also be held after 12 noon on Sunday, February 12 at the home of his mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Denny, 31 First Street, Pictou Landing First Nation. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 15 from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Pictou Landing with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Cemetery, Pictou Landing. No flowers please.
