Bernard, Nicolita Ann "Niki"- Age 55 years of We’koqma’q First Nation. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Niki on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at home in We’koqma’q. Niki was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 2, 1961, she was a daughter of Julena Catherine Bernard, We’koqma’q and the late Robert Paul. She leaves to mourn daughters, Allison, Ashley both of We’koqma’q; Crystal Chubb, Sheena Bernard both of South Carolina; sisters, Mona Bernard, Gina Poulette (Maynard) and Madonna Bernard all of We’koqma’q; brother, John A., We’koqma’q; uncles, John W., Peter "Seven" both of We’koqma’q; aunt, Ducy, Maine; grandchildren, Maddison, Ameerah. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Charles and Annie Mae (Sylliboy) Bernard; paternal grandfather, Francis Paul; brother, Carl David; uncles, Fred, Lawrence "Lunch", Walter, Alan and Charles "Chuckie". Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday, March 9 in the Multi Purpose Building, 160 Reservation Road, We’koqma’q. Funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11 from Blessed Kateri Parish Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, We’koqma’q, with Father Paul Abbass officiating. Cremation to follow with burial at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh.
