Borden (Parris), Rita Elizabeth - Age 91 years old of Sunnyville, Guysborough Co. Died on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, Halifax surrounded by her loving family. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family, born in Mulgrave; she was a daughter of the late Joseph Parris (member of the 2nd Black Battalion) and the late Annie Jane (Jarvis) Parris. Survived by her daughters, Lorraine, Mississauga, Ont.; Stella, Dartmouth; Margaret (Don), Eastern Passage; Heather (James), Ajax, Ont.; Lillian (Robert), North Preston; Janice (Dwight), Brampton; sons, Scott (Gloria), New Glasgow; Bernard (Debbie), Etobicoke Ont.; Donald (Lynn), Mississauga, Ont.; Robert, Toronto, Ont.; raised Fred (Shelly), Toronto; sister, Sylvia(Marvin), Halifax; brothers, Brian, Dartmouth; Kevin, Mississauga, Ont.; Bobby, Truro; 31 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 10 great- great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Garfield; daughter, Anne; grandson, Wally; sisters, Anne, Margaret, Paula; brothers, Daniel, Patton, Joseph, Francis, James, Allister. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Beverly and the 3rd floor staff at St. Vincent Nursing Home, Halifax. Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20 in Sunnyville United Baptist Church, Sunnyville, Guys. Co. Funeral service will take place on Thursday at 1 p.m. from Wesley United Church, Guysborough with Rev. Wayne Desmond officiating. Burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough.
