Bowie, John Sylvester "Johnny" - age 64 of Barrie, Ont. formerly of Tracadie, Antigonish Co. Passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie, Ontario. Johnny was born in Antigonish on April 13, 1955 a son of the late Basil and Gertrude (Feltmate) Bowie. Johnny grew up in Tracadie, played hockey for the Strait Pirates. He was a big hockey fan.He worked as an Electrician and was a member of the IBEW Union for 35 years. Johnny worked all over the central and western provinces. He was very close to his family and friends and loved to visit when he came home to Nova Scotia. Christmas was his favourite. Johnny was very outgoing, friendly and well loved by everyone. He was an avid reader and loved to weight train. Johnny was an animal lover, we hope he will be met by Bella, Cougar and Izzy. He was very close to his niece, Deidra (O’Connor) Lipsett and nephew, Reggie O’Connor. He will be missed by his sister Theresa (Bowie) O’Connor, and bothers Garnet Bowie and Donald Bowie. He is survived and will be missed by his sister, Theresa (Kevin) O’Connor, and brothers, Garnet (Kendra) Bowie and Donald Bowie; nephews, Reggie, Caleb, Tyler and Jeremy; nieces, Deidra, Laycee and Kira; close friend Jan Imbeault and 4 great-nephews and 1 great-niece. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Basil (Junior) Bowie. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019 in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Tracadie with Father John Barry officiating. Burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
