BURNS, Sheila Viola – MacIntyre Lake, Richmond Co., age 81. It is with great sadness that we the family of Sheila announce her passing in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, on Monday, February 17, 2020. Born in Sydney on December 7, 1938, to the late Harry and Florence (Mann) MacLean. She was predeceased by the love of her life, husband Danny. In Sheila’s younger years she worked at the fish plant in Louisbourg. She enjoyed knitting; dancing, going to concerts, entertaining family and friends and playing the piano and accompanying many fiddle players around Cape Breton. Sheila took great pride in always showing off her jewelry and her fancy nails. Her most enjoyment came from visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Sheila is survived by her daughter, Shelma (Mike) Ryan, Pleasant Hill; sons, Dana (Cathy), Port Hastings; Jerry (Carolyne), Truro; grandchildren, Kyle (Angela), Trevor (Keara), Crystal (Joel), Jenna (Tyler), Jayme (Fred), Ashleigh (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Nolan, Caelem, Reannah, Maggie and Rory; sister, Alice (Angus) MacLeod, Marion Bridge; brother, Sheldon (Clair), Sydney; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Sheila was predeceased by step-father, Jim MacLean; step-father, Kenny Morrison; precious granddaughter, Kristen; brother, Ralph. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury and from where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday with Lorna MacRury officiating. Burial will be in Southbrook Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury at a later date. Family flowers only please. Thank you to the staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for the care given to mom. Memorial donations may be made to The Kristen Ryan Memorial Bursary or to charity of one’s choice.
