Bond, John Herbert – Age 79 years of Canso, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 in Guysborough Memorial Hospital with family by his side. John was born in Canso on October 20, 1940 he was a son of the late John and Edna (Feltmate) Bond. Over the years he worked at the fish plant in Canso; on the Lake boats, construction work and on the Canso trawlers. He enjoyed hunting, sailing, gardening, reading, watching TV, playing crib and family get-togethers. He is survived by his sisters, Stella Rideout, Canso; Marion Dort, Hazel Hill; Katherine Burke, Dartmouth; Myrna (Everett) Bouchie, Little Dover; brothers, Roland and Arnold, Canso; nieces, Juanita McPhee, Wendy (Jason) Avery, Susan (Chris) Bond, Rita Rideout (Kenny Dorey), Lorie (Kevin) Rideout, Dianna (Steve) Dort, Vicky (Colen) Parker and Odessa Dumont; nephews, Kenny (Margaret) Burke, Dean Dort, Derick (Lauren) Dort, Ralph Bond, Lloyd Bond, Rodney Bond, and Chad Bouchie; 14 great-nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his sisters, infant Mary Bond and Dorothy Avery; brothers, Lloyd, Stan, Ralph and niece, Janet Rideout. Special thanks to all the Doctors and Nurses in Antigonish, Canso, Guysborough Sydney, for taking such good care of John, Rhonda Bennett his Palliative Care Nurse, who went beyond the call of duty for John and us. Special thanks to special friend Ronnie Horne, who was always there for John, helping him in numerous ways through the years. Special thanks to his nieces, Wendy Avery and Vicki Parker for taking such great care of him. A private visitation and graveside service was held. Burial will be in Star of the Sea Cemetery, Canso.
