I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Pat and his family who now have to adjust to a world without their beloved son and brother. I moved away from Pt. Tupper in the early 70s. but I have fond memories of John who was six years younger. John was the little boy eagerly watching the older boys play pickup baseball in hopes that someday he'd be picked to play. It wasn't long before little Johnnie was hitting and running the bases with the rest of us. I remember watching John play for the Pt. Tupper Dukes and it was obvious that he had honed his skills well and was a strong competitor. I am sure that John held a friendly grudge against his old friend Eric for snagging the long fly ball that he hit into deep right field that he surely thought was a homerun. May he Rest in Peace.

My heart is broken for Johnny's family, and everyone who loved him. He was like a big brother to me since I was very young. My brother's best friend. Always with a ready smirky smile, twinkle in his eyes, and a big hug. I so enjoyed my visits with John over the past few years. Alot of laughter hearing him and Peter tell the old stories, and argue about politics. The kind of man we all want our son's to be. He will be missed. Always in my prayers.

I was deeply saddened to hear the news of John's passing. Even though I left the hood early, I still remember how strong of a character he was. His mind was razor-sharp and it was born ready to back up his opinion at the drop of a hat. If John was in the circle, the conversation was always engaging. I always admired his strong opinion and how firmly he planted his feet at any moment. Learning year's later about his love for books and how his mind devoured them, it all adds up. John simply had a head start compared to most of us and he earned that one book at a time. He was loved and respected by so many with a long line of friends that had his back. In the end, It all comes down to that. Sending a truckload of love to John's family. My deepest condolences. Love and Light, Bobby Cameron

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of John. John was a great friend and work colleague whom I enjoyed many conversations, on many topics. John had a kind and gentle spirit and a great sense of humour. He spoke with pride of his mother and father and all his family members; John wished the best to all. The loss of Dawna greatly affected him understandably after the many years they were together. He will be missed by all.

I have lost a few friends at this point of my life. This is the hardest. I am going to miss the dry whit and my intellectual friend. We have drifted apart the last several years, because I do not go home much these days and our paths did not cross like they used too. I do not know if I remember my first encounter with Johnny, but I think I do. We were playing little league baseball. He played for the Dukes and as all the people in Point Tupper know, they were a force to be feared in the little league. I played for the Stora's. We were not so good and I was near the bottom of the heap on the team. They had me in right field where the least amount of balls came. Johnny got up and hit a nice fly ball. We were only around eleven at the time, I should mention. Anyway, it came right to me. I only had to lift my glove and caught my first fly ball that mattered. I can still see the look of utter disbelief on his face as he shook his head and headed for the dugout. We both had a chuckle over that years later. He remembered it as clear as I did. I am going to miss that boy.
