SWAINE, Mary Winifred- Age 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2017, in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital, with family by her side. Mary was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary lived her life in Canso where she spent her days baking, quilting, knitting and preparing family meals, especially her famous JELL-O cake for special occasions.
Mary will be sadly missed by Ross, her loving husband of 59 years; her four children, Greta (Gordon), Canso; Jacqueline (Gerry), Enfield; David and Reid, both of Canso; her five grandchildren, Roxanna (Jeff), Waverly; Jane (Chad), Calgary; Alexander (Lydia), Bedford; Katherine (Roger), Enfield; and Lucas; two great-grandchildren, Allie and Maddie. She is also survived by sister, Nora (Ernie) Martin, Canso; brother, George Schrader, Canso. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Milford Haven Nursing Home and the Guysborough Memorial Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
A graveside service will take place 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, in Fourth Hill Cemetery, Canso with Rev. David Wheeler officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary may be made to the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough or to the Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
