MacMILLAN, William Ewan - Age 91, East Lake Ainslie, Inverness Co., passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, in the Inverary Manor, Inverness. Born in East Lake Ainslie he was a son of the late Dan H. and Margaret Anne (MacMillan) MacMillan. William worked for the Department of Transportation for 12 years. He was a past member of the Lake Ainslie Volunteer Fire Dept and also was a member of Alexander Grant Memorial United Church. He worked at farming and was a farmer at heart and was a strong community member. Strong willed with a good sense of humour, always kidding with everyone. He was very family orientated, supportive and generous. He enjoyed reading, playing cribbage, the weekly lexicon, Gaelic, Scotch Music and square dances. Special thank you to all the nurses and staff at both the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital and the Inverary Manor. Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Mary (Matheson); sons, William C., Cow Bay; Allan (Kathleen), Camrose, AB; Kevin (Beverly), Margaree Valley; daughter, Marie MacLean, Kenloch; grandchildren, Nathan, Nadine, Chad, Jessica, Nelson, Dawn Marie; special niece, Flossie MacInnis; as well as many other nieces and nephews. William is the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by all his brothers and sisters, Mary, Alexander, Margaret, Duncan, Georgie, Charles, Colin and Hugh. He was also predeceased by his only son-in-law, Donnie MacLean. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. both in Alexander Grant Memorial United Church, East Lake Ainslie with Rev. Rachel Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in East Lake Ainslie Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh.
