MARTELL, Alonzo Leo - Age 95 years of St. Peter’s formerly of L’Ardoise, Richmond Co. Passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017 at his home in the Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s with family and friends at his side. Born in L’Ardoise on April 27, 1922; he was a son of the late Danny and Mary "Minnie" Jane Martell of Rockdale. Alonzo was a quiet man who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. Before moving to Richmond Villa in 2013 he lived with friends Gail and Georgie Landry of Sampsonville. He was a religious man and attended mass on a regular basis sharing prayers daily. Alonzo is remembered by his sister, Rose Burton, Lunenburg and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, George and Michael; sister, Rita Sampson and his good friend, Wally Peters. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, from 12 to 1 p.m. with a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s with Father Antolin Asor officiating. Burial to follow in Holy Guardian Cemetery, L’Ardoise. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Alonzo’s memory to the Richmond Villa Recreation Fund, St. Peter’s.
