Obituary
Please share a memory of Isaac to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MacINNIS, Isaac– 1934–2017, St. Peters/Skye Glen. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Isaac MacInnis in the Richmond Villa, on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Anne (Matthews) of 52 years. Father of Darrell, (predeceased) and Shane (Lisa) of Mississauga ON, and was predeceased by a son at birth. Grandfather of Benjamin, Sarah, and Matthew. Isaac was born in East Skye Glen to the late John Angus and Janet (Young) MacInnis.
He was a beloved brother of Donald (Anna) of East Skye Glen; Margaret, Margaree Harbour. He will be deeply missed by many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by sisters, Grace (Richard predeceased) MacLean, Florence (Donald predeceased) MacLean, and Agnes "Aggie" (Dick of Elkview West Virginia) McVey; brothers, Ninian (Kay predeceased), Allister, Beattie "Mac" (Laura of London ON), Peter (Annie Mae of East Skye Glen), and George (Evelyn predeceased).
After leaving Cape Breton at a young age Isaac lived in Sudbury, working for the Falconbridge mines and also worked at Hodge General Store delivering groceries. Isaac then moved to Toronto where he met and married his true love Anne. Anne and Isaac lived and lovingly raised a family in Long Branch and in Mississauga. Every summer they would travel "Down Home" to Cape Breton to visit everyone in Dundee and Skye Glen and whoever had been "Home" at the time. Throughout the year they would make weekend trips to Sudbury and West Virginia, where fond and happy memories were made. They were members of St. Paul’s (Long Branch) and Bethel (Milton) United Churches. He was member of the Moose Lodge and also bowled a perfect 5 pin game of 450 points. After working at Otis Canada Inc for over 30 years as an Elevator Installer on many of the large skyscrapers in Toronto it was time to retire and move "Home". In 1995 Isaac and Anne built a home in West Skye Glen on land that Isaac worked on when he was young. He was a member of the Brotherhood and Stewart United Church in Whycocomagh and participated in many community activities. Isaac was devoted to all of his family and friends and someone who would always be the first to help out. He was a kind and soft spoken person and would not say anything harsh about anyone or anything, but he could deliver a clever punch line out of the blue with that familiar smile on his face. He will always be in our hearts and will be truly missed.
We would like to say a thank You to all of the Staff and Care Givers at the Richmond Villa in St. Peters for all of their kindness and care especially during the last couple of weeks. We would like to thank Rev. Rachel Campbell of Stewart United Church in Whycocomagh for her Support during this time of sadness. We would also like to thank the Ladies of the Skye Glen Hall for all of their hard work and kindness.
Cremation has been taken place and there will be a private graveside ceremony at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
