TRAIN, RONALD EDWARD "Ron" – Age 66 years of Port Hawkesbury. We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Ronald "Ron" Edward Train of Port Hawkesbury formerly of Scarborough, Ontario in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Ron was born on February 12, 1951 in Toronto, Ont., he was a son of the late Nelson and Barbara (Crowell) Train. Ron had a forty year career as a Civil Technologist and designed many multi-million dollar projects. He was a member Civitan, Scarborough Chapter, involved as a convener and hockey tournament chairman for his son’s league, the Scarborough Cougars. Every Christmas Ron enjoyed dressing as Santa for his daughter Vanessa’s dart league Christmas party at Oshawa, Ont., Legion Branch 43. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by the recent passing of his brother, Morley Train. Ron is survived by his wife, Lauretta (Matheson), Port Hawkesbury; daughter, Vanessa LeBlanc-Train, Oshawa, Ont.; son, Steven (Stephanie), Sudbury, Ont.; step-sons, Robert, Port Hawkesbury; Stephen (Allison), Scarborough, Ont.; granddaughters, Lisa Lowe; Ella Train; grandson, Gerritt Ronald Train; brother, Lee Train (Adelle), dear niece as he referred to his "other daughter", Sandra Train, Scarborough, Ont.; sister-in-law, Susan Train, Barrie, Ont. Ron is leaving many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and wonderful neighbours and friends and his beloved dog, Lucy. For the love and comfort thorough-out his short illness Thank You to Valerie "Val" Matheson and Shirley "Squirrel" Matheson. Your love made his passing that much easier. Also thank you to Dr. Collins and Dr. Pluta and the nurses in Emergency Department and Palliative Care at Strait Richmond Hospital. Visitation will be held Friday, December 8 from 4-7 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville Street, Port Hawkesbury. There will be no funeral service. Burial will take place at a later date in Mountain Cemetery, Yarmouth. Donations in Ron’s memory may be made to Strait Richmond Palliative Care. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
