PARKER, Sylvester Francis "Ves" age 71 of Hazel Hill: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Ves passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017, surrounded by his loving wife of 49 years and his family in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in Canso, he was the son of the late Vincent and Sadie (O’Hearn) Parker. Ves was a lifetime fisherman who also worked with the Department of Transportation. He worked as a trawlerman and was also an employee of the Canso Fishplant. For several years, he was self-employed as a taxi driver. Ves greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, going to his grandson’s hockey games, camping with his grandsons and listening to Newfoundland music. He leaves behind to morn his wife, Rosalee (Richards); children, Christina Fitzpatrick, Hazel Hill; Edward (Hali) Parker, Halifax; Crystal (Jessie) Richards, Hazel Hill; sisters, Marion (Fred) Snow, Conneticut; Agatha Boudreau, Dartmouth; Lorraine Walker, Antigonish; brothers, Pat (Shirley) Parker, Canso; Dennis (Fern) Parker, Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. Ves was predeceased by his brothers, Danny and Jimmie Parker as well as his nephew, Danny Snow. Papa will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandsons, Keegan and Scott Fitzpatrick and Simon Rostis. Visitation will take place on Friday, December 29, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso from 2 pm to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 30, at 2 pm from Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso with Reverend Cameron officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Ves can be made to the Guysborough Memorial Hospital Palliative Care or Star of the Sea Church, Canso. Family flowers only.
