MacINTYRE, John Archibald "Gabriel", Age 71 of Kingsville, Inverness County, passed away after a brief illness in St Martha’s Regional Hospital on Monday January 22, 2018. Born on MacIntyre Mountain he was a son of the late John Dan and Mae (MacNeil) MacIntyre. He was married to Florence "Marina" (Blue) for 47 years until her passing 6 months ago. Gabriel spent the majority of his life working in the woods, starting out as a teen on the homestead logging with horses. He later operated his own truck hauling wood and bark. In 1974, he began his career with NSFI where he worked for 40 years primarily in the wood room and as a carry lift operator in the yard. He was a member of the Local 972, CEP Union of Canada After retirement he was able to return to the woods cutting firewood and sawing his own lumber for various building projects around home. Projects included building his own garages where he worked with his sons on equipment and cars teaching them his skills. He also loved antique cars and trucks and attending car shows. Gabriel was known as a humble man that enjoyed a simple life with his family often helping others without any fanfare. He is survived by daughter, Nancy (James) Meagher; sons, Sheldon (Aimee), Winston and Curtis; grandchildren, Liam, Noah MacIntyre and Hannah, Callie Meagher; brothers, Donald, Dougie (Ida), John (Marg), Gerald (Charlene) sisters, Mary Belle (Phil) Provataris, Margaret Chisholm and Annie MacIntyre; also an aunt, Catherine Dennehy; sister-in-law, Agnes Methot. He was predeceased by his wife, Marina (Blue) and brother, Archie. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday January 25 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday January 26 from St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, Glendale with Father Joe MacKenzie officiating. Donations to St. Mary of the Angels Cemetery or charity of choice.
