HAYWOOD, Samuel Walter - It is with great sadness we announce the death of Samuel Walter Haywood 75, of Manassette Lake, Guysborough Co., who passed away at home on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Born on February 25, 1943, Sam was a son of the late Hilton Edward and Helen Margaret (Carr) Haywood.
Sam was a member of St. Francis of Asissi Roman Catholic Church, St. Francis Harbour. He was a retired labourer and woodsman and in his younger years he was a great baseball player (1st baseman) and loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by his son, Tim; also by sisters, Patricia (Bill), Mary (Harold), Lorraine (Bryce), Diane (Wayne); brothers, Howard (Dolly), Ross (Norah), Ernie (Bonnie), Carl (Sue), Ray, Mel, Tom (Darlene); aunt, Gertie Carr; foster brother, Andy MacIsaac (Calestine); many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Cyril.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
