Landry, Albert "Cletus" - of St. Peter’s, Richmond Co., passed away peacefully Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the age of 84 in the Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s lovingly surrounded by his family. Born on August 10, 1933 in Sampsonville, Richmond County, he was the much loved son of the late Henry and Martina (Burke) Landry. Cletus will always be remembered and sadly missed by his daughters, Anna Ferguson (Ross), St. Peter’s; Maxine Mombourquette (Wade), Chezzetcook; Bonnie Davidson (Harold), St. Peter’s; Colette Boucher (Bradly), Chezzetcook; sons, David (Shirley), Brookside; Aubrey (Wendy), Sampsonville. Cletus’ pride and joy were his 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly. He is survived by brothers, Conrad (Diane), Sampsonville; Wally (Bernadette) Timberlea; Bernie, Richibucto, NB; and sisters, Doris (Ray) Landry, Sampsonville; and Marilyn Proctor (Al), Sampsonville. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Peggy, and sisters, Beth and Lola. In his early years, Cletus sailed the Great Lakes as a first mate before returning to his hometown. As a member of the Teamsters union, he worked at a number of locations across Cape Breton. He was an active member of his community and served as a member of the Lions Club. In retirement, he always kept himself busy working around the house. Cletus had a passion for sports, whether it was watching, participating or coaching. He had a strong love for hockey, especially his Montreal Canadiens. A lover of music, Cletus loved listening to the entertainers that would play at the Richmond Villa. Cletus will be remembered as a hard-working family man with a heart of gold, and will be missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place. Cletus will be resting in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 26 Centennial Street, St. Peter’s, with visitation Tuesday, February 6 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 7 with Father Antolin Asor officiating. Burial at a later date in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richmond Villa Activity Department or a charity of your choice. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s. Words cannot describe the level of compassion that was shown to both Cletus and family in the days prior to his passing. Their helpful accommodations and hospitality have been second to none.
