MARTIN, Margaret Olive – Age 73, Half Island Cove, Guysborough Co., passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2018, in the Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Manassette Lake, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late William Frederick and Louisa (Ross) Greencorn. Margaret was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Queensport. She had a long-time career in the fishing industry working at numerous fish plants in the area. Margaret was a passionate volunteer, especially when it came to the financial needs of the church and the community at large. She was a strong willed and family minded person. She was the rock of her family. She loved to sew and quilt. She truly appreciated all her friends and the times they spent together. She loved going to dances and concerts and especially loved to listen to her granddaughter Ashley sing, as well as listening to old country music. She is survived by her husband Arthur of 55 years; daughters, Kay (Pat) Ryan, Harbour Breton, NL; Jean (Junior) Lumsden, Halifax; Donalda (Gino) Gagnon, Dartmouth; sister, Wilma Jean Dort, Halfway Cove; grandchildren, Ashley Dawn Ryan, Chaunc Lumsden, Kelsey Lou Lumsden, Emily Gagnon; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Lumsden and Augie Lumsden; also she is survived by Trudy Jamieson, who was like a daughter to her. She was predeceased by her sister, Ella MacDonald; brother, Donald Greencorn. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. on Sunday and Monday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Queensport with Father Jonathan Nnajiofor officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
