Obituary
Please share a memory of Hugh to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Watts, Hugh Campbell - Age 39 of Port Hood. God whispered his name and called him Home on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Born in Antigonish on March 9, 1979, he was a lifelong resident of Port Hood, first on Marble Hill where he grew up and later in Colindale, where he built his family home.
He was a graduate of Port Hood Consolidated School and NSCC and was a member of the Port Hood & District Volunteer Fire Department. From his earliest days, his passion was fishing and being on the water and it carried through his life. He was a dedicated family man and enjoyed teaching his children about boats and fishing, making maple syrup, the joys of walking through the woods, how things were put together and how they worked, and so many life lessons that they will carry with them in their hearts. His Catholic faith was a hallmark of his life; a highlight of each day was saying the rosary with his family.
He is survived by Sarah, the love of his life, with whom he shared 12 years of married life; his children, Elijah, Madeline, Malia, Gabriella, and Samuel; his mother, Betty; sisters, Joanne and Roberta; parents-in-law, Joe and Carmen van Zutphen; sisters-in-law, Melina (Greg) and Simone; several nieces and nephews; and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his father, Robert whom we pray has been reunited with his only son and now shares eternal rest; paternal grandparents, Albro and Katie Watts; maternal grandparents, Sam and Margaret Campbell; maternal grandmother, Mary MacDougall.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 15 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 16, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Port Hood & Area Resting Place.
