BEATON, Wendy Marlene – We the family of Wendy Beaton, age 60 years, of Port Hawkesbury, regret to announce her sudden death on Thursday, August 16, 2018. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Sally Sue (MacDougall) Hale of Pictou and the late Robert Everett Hale of Stellarton. Wendy was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a kind hearted caring person, who enjoyed helping others. She is remembered by her family as an avid gardener; a creative & talented crafter who shared her passion of sewing with people of all ages. Photography and travel were interests of hers, whether she was at home or soaking up the sun down south, she always had a camera by her side. Many will also miss her homemade preserves. She was a devoted Nanny to Abby, who was the apple of her eye. Wendy is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Doug; daughters, Jennifer (Randy Shepherd), Cleveland and Katie, Port Hawkesbury; granddaughter, Abigail; sister, Susan (Paul) Landry, Hammonds Plains; niece, Tracey (Lee) DeWolfe, Sackville and nephew, Josh Landry, Calgary. As well as brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Alice) Beaton, and Collie Beaton; sister-in-law, Marlene (Gus) Boyd; nephews, Ronald, Kevin (Catriona), Chance (Tammy) and Woody (Cheryl); grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by father and mother in-law, Collie and Jessie Beaton; and brothers-in-law, Freeman and John Beaton. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 20 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 21 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Deacon Berkley Guthro officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Parish Cemetery Fund, The Lung Association of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
